Have you ever wondered what the world today would look like if we didn’t have Facebook, Twitter or Instagram! These little corners of the internet have grown and pretty much overtaken the world in the Phenomenon that is Social Media.

It seems like none of us can go a day without checking either one of these things. We’ve become a generation of addicts! But I suppose when you compare Social Media to its counterpart 50 years ago, nothing much as changed.

What I mean by that is simple, humans have always been social creatures and, at the end of the day, it’s who you know and what you know that matters. 50 years ago women hosted lunches and judged each other on food and attendants! Men had gentlemen clubs where they smoked cigars, drank whiskey and talked about sport and women.

Our definition of being social has greatly changed over the years and today in the world of YouTube and Live Streams, we can attend social events in our pj’s from the comfort of our homes! This to me is the opposite of what Social Media should be doing. As a blogger, I see the great benefits of having them, but is it really worth it if we lose out on actually social events?

Social Media is such a powerful tool in today’s world and as a young person, I would just encourage everyone to use it more wisely, because as much as it can be of great benefit it can equally be our downfall!

All The Best

CJ 🙂

Oh yess I love reading peoples point of view on social media, it’s such a controversial topic and everything everyone says good or bad about social media is so right. It stinks that our physical interaction has lessened with social media people become more socially awkward and the lack of privacy is uncanny but at the same time social media has become such a creative outlet for people and it’s become such a huge part of life I can’t even imagine life without it. Although I do love the idea of hosting lunches and judging by food and attendees lol sounds fun!!! I just wish there was a nice happy medium of both but sadly life isn’t like that anymore…

    1. Yes, there is that creativity to it as well and it has connected the world on many levels, I mean I wouldn’t have my blog and be talking to you without it, but I feel it just isn’t used in the best way at times.
Someday when I have my own house I’m going to host lots of lunches and dinners, it’s what happened in my house growing up, people where always coming by 🙂 I miss that about society:)

Great post. How I wish I was great at managing my social media. There are people who use it excessively and then there are people like me who absolutely suck at it. But no denying to the fact that we live in a world which is growing as a global community , one reason being the upsurge in the use of social media.
But as you said , it is required to learn how to judiciously use this double-edged tool.
    Lovely read.
