This week update is different but very real! In support of World Mental Health Day, I’m going to share my short story on how I came to realised It’s okay, not to be okay!
My early 20’s were a very hectic time in my life, I was happy, carefree, independent and I loved life! But, one day this all changed. I won’t go into the in’s and outs of it, but my life had been turned upside down. Like many people I refused to talk about what was going on with anyone, saying to everyone ‘I’ve never been better’ when that couldn’t be further from the truth.
It was during this time that I met Billy (if you haven’t read his Introduction you can here) We became friends and we started hanging out and getting to know each other. It was then that he realised the pain I was actually in. He spoke to me about going to talk with someone and of course, I told him I was fine and that it wouldn’t help! But when I actually sat down and looked at myself and thought about our friendship and this new relationship we had, I realised that if I didn’t deal with my issues that it would be unfair to him.
So I took the step and I started going to talk to someone. It was just random stuff at the beginning, nothing serious, but then one day I talked about all that had happened and it was like a weight had been lifted off me! I walked out of there and haven’t looked back since. I still go and talk with someone every other month or so, because as I’ve come to learned, our mental health is just as important as our physical and dietary health! A healthy life is taking care of Our Body, Our Mind and Our Soul equally 🙂
I hope that everyone has had a great week so far and if you’re struggling with anything then now is the time to talk to someone! Don’t put if off.
All The Best!
