Homemade Pumpkin Spiced Latte

Autumn is finally here guys and if you don’t know, it is my absolute favourite time of the year. From the beautiful colours to the smells in the air, I love everything about it, but what I think I love the most is…you’ve guessed it Pumpkin Spiced Latte’s 😀

I will never forget the first time I walked into Starbucks and seen it on the menu, coming from Ireland where the only time I see pumpkin is when its carved and sitting on my porch it grabbed my attention, so I decided to try it and it blew my mind! The flavour was amazing and was pretty much my favourite season wrapped up in a cup! You can imagine my shock when coming back home and not been able to have it 😦 So I decided to try and recreate it.

Now pumpkins aren’t something you come across often outside of season so instead of waiting I ordered some tins of Pumpkin puree online, I messed around with a few recipes but the one below is the one that came our the best for me and can be adjusted for those of us who are Vegan 😀

Ingredients:

  • 1 can 100% pumpkin puree or 500g fresh steamed pumpkin flesh
  • 1 can of sweetened condensed milk(see link below for dairy free version)
  • 1 cup regular milk(if you used canned pumpkin you need more)
  • 1 tbsp Mixed Spice (if you don’t have the just mix 1 tsp of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and clove)

Method:

Combine the pumpkin, condensed milk and spices in a bowl and mix well, then while mixing add the milk, depending on which type of pumpkin you used you may not need a second cup as steamed pumpkin has more liquid needing less milk. Pour it all through a fine strainer and with a spoon push as much through as possible. store the mixture in an airtight container and pour  about 3/4 of a cup into your coffee. This mixture can keep in the fridge for up to 7 days.

If like me you are vegan then do not worry, I found the greatest homemade recipe on Youtube for Dairy Free Condensed Milk 🙂

If you try out this recipe or have your own version please feel free to  share in the comments 😀

All The Best!
