Beauty: A Retelling of The Story Beauty and The Beast

Hi Guys!

This week’s Review Friday is a little different as I’ll be doing a book review of a book I think will always be my favourite. As the title suggests the book is Called Beauty: A Retelling of The Story  Beauty and The Beast, by Robin McKinley. Now, you probably don’t know this about me, but Beauty and The Beast is my FAVOURITE Disney movie(Still have the original VHS as home) And when I came across this book a few years ago I couldn’t put it down!

As you can see I’ve read this book a lot over the years and its one of the few books I will pass along to my owe daughter if I’m blessed with one that is. The book covers the basic story of Beauty and the Beast, but with a lot more detail. You get much more background on the characters and there are twists that you really aren’t expecting.

I think I really liked Beauty(the name of the main character) because she is very strong and not afraid to speak her mind, even if it gets her in trouble. As a teen I wasn’t like that, but I aspired to be! And sure enough, I got there eventually. I believe every teenage girl(or boy) should aspire to be strong in themselves and I think this book teaches that in a very simple way.

I will say the ending came much too soon for my liking, but I’m sure all book lovers will say that about their favourite books 🙂

If you’d like to read this book you can pick it up on Amazon  and if like me you love a good classic romance novel it is well worth picking up 🙂

All The Best

CJ 🙂

ps. I’ve not been asked or paid to do this review and I’m not sponsored by Amazon.

This is one that helped inspire me to write retellings too. One of the best versions of Beauty and the Beast out there. And that’s a gorgeous cover on yours.

    1. It inspired me so much! I’m still reading it years later and it’s like it’s the first time everytime! I picked this copy up in Barns & Noble about 9 years ago 🙂
