Kissing The Blarney Stone

This week’s Travel Tuesday is all about my recent trip to Blarney Castle in Co. Cork and my stay at The Blarney Woolen Mills. I haven’t been to Cork since I was a child and my family used to go to Baltimore on the west coast every year, so getting the chance to go this time was such excitement for me. If you’ve never been to Cork before then you’re in for a treat. It’s a beautiful part of the island and the people are some craic 😀

On arrival to The Blarney Woolen Mills, I was quickly shown to my room, which turns out was an executive suit!! That night I ate dinner in the pub/restaurant located just outside the hotel, there was a match on the telly so all the locals were out and about which made the meal and the few pints afterwards all that more enjoyable 😀

The following day I woke up early and walked across the street to the entrance of the grounds of Blarney Castle. It was a glorious day and everyone was out to see and explore the grounds. I debated with myself on whether I should actually make the climb up to the top of the Castle and kiss the stone itself, I almost didn’t, but said  to myself “you know what, it’ll be a story for the grandkids” So I went for it. It’s quite a climb up a very narrow passageway that on a hot day, wasn’t the best, but it was all part of the experience 🙂 For the rest of the morning and afternoon, I walked around the grounds and explored the lakes and forests that they have. Sadly I missed out on getting to see inside Blarney House as it was closed the day I went, but that just means I get to come back and explore some more:D

Blarney is a wonderful place to visit and if you get the chance I seriously recommend you come and see it 😀 If you’ve been to Blarney or to Cork, let me know what you thought of it in the comments 😀

All The Best
